O Captain, My Captain

Whom shall Canadians choose as their captain to steer the ship of state? Do we want the captain who "feels our pain" and holds our hand through rough seas? Or do we want the captain who demonstrates prudence and keeps his steady hand on the wheel to navigate the ship through rough seas.?

The editorial board of the Toronto Star made its choice and chose to endorse the sensitive, hand-holding of "Captain Steubing."

I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you. I never saw that coming.

Meanwhile, the editorial boards of the Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Waterloo Region Record, among a growing list of others, have opted instead for the firm, steady-hand of Captain Disco Troop.

I'm not aware of any paper, as of yet, that has endorsed Captain Kangaroo.

Of course, for those voters who think that the whole lot of them are clowns (you know who you are), perhaps your option might be best described as a choice between Gilligan and the Skipper. Your call.
